Teresa Lyday-Selby board member

Teresa Lyday-Selby has been an educator for 18 years at The California Montessori Project. She has been a classroom teacher in TK- 2.nd grade, a mentor teacher, and a parent educator, as well as serving in a variety of leadership roles. She graduated summa cum laude from CSUS, with a BA in Liberal Studies and supplementals in science and English. She completed her teaching credential through CSUS with a CLAD certificate. She received an MA in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at CSUS and a preliminary administrative credential. Her MA project was on the topic of School and Family Engagement as a Foundation for Education for Peace. Ms. Lyday-Selby holds Montessori credentials for ages 3-6, 6-9, and 9-12 through the Montessori Training Center, Sacramento. Additionally, she completed a certificate program in Autism Spectrum Disorders through University of California, Davis.


Over the years Ms. Lyday-Selby has learned to place a high priority on community building and cooperative work to prepare a peaceful learning environment and a gracious space for students, families and staff. She has learned that we, the adults, must be the peace, love, and wisdom we wish to see in our children. She understands deeply the need for a wide and diverse range of learning opportunities and choices to meet the needs of all learners within a school community. Ms. Lyday-Selby has served on The Cottonwood School Board since August 2019.
