Dear Cottonwood Families,

As we savor the last days of summer break, excitement for the new school year is building. We can feel your enthusiasm coming through various forms of communication, field trips and event signups, and lots of thoughtful questions. This week, we want to share strategies to help you ease into the school year with confidence and peace. Our homeschooling journey is like a trek of discovery and wonder — let’s embrace a steady and joyful start.

First, know that it’s perfectly fine if you don’t have all your curriculum choices in place or are waiting to consult with your HST. In fact, we support this approach. Your HSTs are eager to meet with you and help you establish a personalized, sustainable, and successful plan for the year. This is a great time to familiarize yourself with our community, attend Mondays at the CCC, visit the Lending Library, join us at Open House, and engage with all of the fun back-to-school events.

Establishing goals is key to a successful year. Involve your children in setting academic and personal goals, making them feel excited and invested in their education. Create a countdown to the first day of school, and celebrate small milestones along the way to keep the momentum going. Check out our Back to School Pinterest Board for lots of ideas and activities to celebrate!

Remember, you don’t have to hit the ground running. Ease into your routines and enjoy the process of learning together. Let’s make this school year a fulfilling journey for everyone.

Kindly,

Kara Parkins
