Our Cottonwood Star of the Week is Andry:
His mom says, “Nine years ago a little shy boy came to the dance studio to try out a ballet dance class. At first, he was not even sure if he liked dancing or not. He just kept coming to weekly classes because it was a better alternative to playing video games at home. Nine years later it is more than 15 hours weekly of sweat and hard work in the dance studio. Dance became his passion in life. Dance kept him going through the pandemic and helped him to be happy and content with life’s ups and downs. Two months ago he was dancing a leading role of Nutcracker Prince at Placer Theater Ballet at Auburn in their annual performance. He enjoys every moment on stage and has big plans for the future.
For the last 7 years, Andrey has been homeschooled, and he had so many great options in his education because of that. He was able to take many different classes using his instructional funds: gymnastics, skating, hockey, taekwondo, swimming, horseback riding, coding, Russian and Spanish languages, web design, driving lessons, and dance. Homeschooling has given him schedule flexibility and opportunities to take college classes for his electives at Sierra College. He enjoys his homeschool journey and feels lucky for having that option in his life.”
