Dear Families,

In our bustling school of more than 3,500 students, the journey of homeschooling becomes even more enriching when you find your tribe — a group of families who share your experiences, support your goals, and walk alongside you on this unique path.

One of the best ways to connect is through our weekly gatherings at parks in four different regions, hosted by our family liaisons. These events are rapidly growing and include children of all ages, from infants to teens. We intentionally choose parks that appeal to everyone, making them perfect for the whole family. Similarly, our weekly gathering called “Mondays at the CCC,” which is followed by storytime in the Lending Library, offers consistent opportunities to meet friends. Both Park Days and Mondays at the CCC attract families eager to connect with others. These gatherings are where friendships blossom and parents find their community in a time dedicated to play, connection, and building relationships.

Finding your tribe can also begin within our programs. Many of our students are already building connections through programs like TK Explorers, Superstar Readers, Boost, and RISE. While these often start online, they’re not limited to virtual interactions. We have in-person events and gatherings tied to these programs, offering wonderful opportunities for students and parents to connect.

Other in-person classes, taught by various approved community partners, are another excellent way for students to bond over shared interests. Signing up for enrichment centers and vendor-taught classes not only enriches your child’s learning experience but also creates spaces where friendships naturally develop.

And don’t forget about field trips — some of the best connections are made while exploring the world together. By attending regularly, you’ll begin to see familiar faces, helping both you and your children form lasting friendships.

Beyond our school, there are countless ways to connect with the broader homeschooling community. There are numerous charters in our region serving homeschool families, as well as private homeschoolers eager to make connections. Consider joining local homeschool Facebook groups, exploring co-ops, and attending regional events. These are fantastic avenues to find like-minded families who share your values and educational goals.

And here’s a little tip: when you’re out and about during traditional school hours — whether at the store, the library, or the park — keep an eye out for other kids. There’s a good chance you’re seeing fellow homeschoolers from your neighborhood. Don’t be shy; a simple hello might lead to discovering “your people.”

Finally, our Facebook community group is another resource for making connections and organizing meetups. While online, it’s a lively space where parents can exchange ideas, plan gatherings, and support one another. Please ensure you are participating in our official Facebook Community page for accurate and up-to-date information.

So as you continue or are just at the beginning your homeschooling journey, take advantage of these opportunities. Dive into the programs, attend the events, and don’t hesitate to reach out to others. The bonds you form within this community will enrich your experience and provide invaluable support for both you and your children.

Kindly,

Kara Parkins
