If a man does not keep pace with his companions
Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears–
however measured or far away.
– Thoreau

It is so easy for us to fall into the norms that surround us and be consumed with our own world. We all have our own challenges, but often we give little thought to another’s struggles. With our Week of Awareness, our school is intentionally choosing to seek the perspectives of those whose experiences are different from ours. Even though we are all unique, we feel it is important as a school to highlight groups that are often overlooked, under-represented, or misunderstood.

We invite you to be intentional with us by joining our talented staff each day as they present on different topics. Start right away by watching as a family, the video linked below created by our own Stephanie Hodgson. Beginning tomorrow morning through next Thursday, you will receive a short email reminding you of the day’s topic, a color to wear in solidarity, and links for that afternoon’s Week of Awareness presentations.

The only exception to the morning emails will be Friday, January 21, when we host a special event for those that already signed up: A Touch of Understanding.

We encourage you to take the time to prioritize these amazing events. Thank you for being a community that cares and allows space for us all. Again, watch for the daily emails and opportunities to engage in this beautiful Week of Awareness that celebrates each of us, our children, and the amazing differences between us.
